Lobster on the Lawn is one of Falmouth’s most popular events during the summer! Enjoy a lobster roll, made with a special Saint Barnabas’s recipe, along with chips, a homemade dessert and bottled water—plus the fellowship of villagers and visitors. This year we are adding live music for all ages in partnership with Summer @ StB’s.
Since 1988, Mr. Newcomb has been director of the ensemble, which counts professional and semi-professional musicians among its 20 members. The players range from recent high school graduates working hard to hone their technique.
Mr. Newcomb, a trumpet player who lives in Centerville, studied music at Arizona State and Long Beach State, and came to the Cape in the 1970s to play in The Gringos, who helped tear up dance floors throughout the area decades ago. Today, three members of the Gringos play with the ensemble, contributing to its big band sound and playing medleys of tunes by Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Stan Kenton and Duke Ellington.
