This workshop, taught by Marcelo Galvao, will work some movement techniques (modern, creative, ballroom dancing and Brazilian popular dance) to create a free dance rooted in our affective memories. The classes will consist of stretching, muscle strengthening, dance techniques and creative games. This is a class for the unveiling of new movements, of poetry and most of all, dance. Marcelo has wide experience in working with older adults, and the conditions and limitations of each participant will be considered in a responsible way.

Marcel Galvao received his undergraduate in Dance Education from the Federal University of Bahia in 2008. He has worked with creative and educational processes in dance for the elderly for 18 years. He has been a part of three National Forums for Coordination of Elderly for Higher Education Institutions and is currently a dance professor in the Open University to the Elderly program at the Bahian State University (UNEB). Marcelo is also in a municipal program for the retired in Salvador Municipality (PREVIS) and in the Brazilian navy’s retired program.

Admission is free, though donations are welcome. Please register at cotuitlibrary.org/events–activities or contact the Library.
