ABOUT THE FILM
The Pollinators is a cinematic journey around the United States following migratory beekeepers and their truckloads of honey bees throughout a season as they pollinate the flowers that become the fruits, nuts and vegetables we all eat. Honey bees pollinate one third of the food we eat, yet alarmingly honey bee populations in this country have fallen by half since the 1940’s and continue to decline. Our food system is under threat and rests on the wings of these tiny insects and the commercial beekeepers that move them from farm to orchard pollinating crops that native pollinators can no longer adequately accomplish. Much of the work moving bees is done at night when the bees are in their hives so few people actually get to see what these beekeepers do and few know the essential role that these pollinators play in our food system.The many challenges the beekeepers and their bees face reveal flaws to our simplified and chemically dependent agriculture system.

Tickets are $14 per person, $12, for members, $10 for students and veterans and are available online or at the door at Redfield Auditorium – if not already sold out.
